Climate Solutions 101

Project Drawdown describes itself as "the World's Leading Resource for Climate Solutions" Their website has global solutions and estimates the investment costs and savings due to implementing climate solutions. "Drawdown" refers to a future in time when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline. This is the point when we begin the process of stopping further climate change and averting potentially catastrophic warming. It is a critical turning point

Do the experts agree that human activity is causing climate change?

Yes. There is a consensus of 97-98% of climate scientists that our changing climate is due to human activity.

Rising Tides: Understanding Sea Level Rise

"As human activity warms our planet, the ocean absorbs over 90 percent of the excess heat. This increases water volume and melts ice sheets and glaciers, contributing to sea level rise. Watch the video to learn how much global sea level is rising each year, what that looks like in everyday terms, and why it matters." - NASA

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

Will Grant describes how there are four levels at which you can take action on climate. Level 3 is where most people can make the most impact.

  1. You and your immediate family
  2. Your wider family and friends
  3. The organizations your associated with and local government
  4. Larger government /Policies
