Haverford Township has demonstrated commitment to reducing climate change through many concrete actions - many of which have also saved the Township money.
The Shade Tree Commission advises the Board of Commissioners and the Township Manager with respect to the preservation, maintenance and planting of shade trees in the Township.

Haverford Recreation has projects throughout the year for the whole family! By removing invasive species and replacing them with natives, we are making our public open space more appealing to hikers, offering valuable habitat to wildlife, and helping to control erosion. Our projects require zero knowledge and minimal equipment.
Each year, Tree Tenders plants trees in our parks and public places, over 1500 and counting. While we have done so in the past, we are currently not planting trees for residents. We are affiliated with the PHS Tree Tenders Program.

DCVA is a nonprofit watershed organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in and around the Darby Creek watershed by restoring and protecting its natural, historical, and cultural resources. DCVA host annual stream cleanups around Hav. Twp. as well as many other activities.
The Office of Sustainability is brand new to Delaware County in 2021! Their charge is to make Delaware County and its operations more sustainable and resilient to the effects of climate change. We’re doing this by examining government operations, engaging with the community, and working with the new Sustainability Commission to develop a long-term Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.
