Is my home, business, or nonprofit suitable for rooftop solar?

Entering your address in Google's "Project Sunroof" will give you a rough estimate of the solar potential of your roof (Yellow is good). To know for sure, contact Solarize DelCo or a solar installer. "Project Sunroof" data is several years old and finance calculations are for residential properties. Your solar potential might be very different based on tree removal or growth.

    Solar Incentives

    • Warning: Most IRS websites have not been updated with the changes due to the passing of H.R. 1 in July 2025. This bill eliminated residential tax credits for solar and phases out commercial tax credits. Solar is still a good investment!
    • Residential: $500 rebate from PECO
    • Commercial: The PECO solar incentive is $0.10/kWh, based on net solar kWh production over a one-year period and capped at the project cost.
    • Commercial: 30% Federal Credit available through 2027 (Leasing companies can utilize this credit for residential properties)

    Solar Hot Water

Solar water heaters -- sometimes called solar domestic hot water systems -- can be a cost-effective way to generate hot water for your home. They can be used in any climate, and the fuel they use -- sunshine -- is free.

    How They Work

Solar water heating systems include storage tanks and solar collectors. There are two types of solar water heating systems: active, which have circulating pumps and controls, and passive, which don't.
